About

November is a magazine that brings together outstanding thinkers across art, literature, architecture, fashion, food, music, and more to talk about what it means to make things today and why it matters. We publish longform interviews, roundtables, and original writing, collected in volumes that come out every 4 months. The themes of previous issues have ranged from postmodernism to process to the AIDS crisis. We aim to meaningfully support the work of emerging and historically significant figures, while also documenting the specificities of our cultural present.

Founded in 2020, the magazine began as a one-time project of ten long-form interviews published between July and November of that year. The ten interviews of Volume 0, which the New York Times called  “cerebral,” featured interviews with Adrian Piper, Frank B. Wilderson III, Sarah Schulman, Hal Foster, and others. The response was so positive that we decided to keep the project going. November is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, funded primarily by contributions from our dedicated readers, and is run by a mostly-volunteer staff of ten.
